For Il Ballo del Mattone, I developed a web concept around the two sides of the restaurant: its practical function as a place to eat and make reservations, and its much more artistic, performative personality. The experience began with a mysterious choice between two paths: one led to menus, reservations and practical information, while the other opened the door to a more experimental and playful version of Il Ballo.
To reinforce the restaurant’s homemade, family-run character, I made the family itself part of the experience, turning its members into recurring illustrated characters throughout the site. The result was not conceived as a conventional restaurant website, but as a digital extension of the place itself: functional when needed, but personal, theatrical and unexpected everywhere else.
